The support that comes with knowing that “you’re not alone” is invaluable. The peer support component of our groups & the ability to process experiences alongside one another provides the unique opportunity to draw on one another's resourcefulness, creativity, & strength. The beauty of group work allows the members to convene, collaborate, share experiences, exchange ideas, get feedback, guidance, & support. Our groups are facilitated by mentors who are passionate about sharing the benefits of the group process. All groups are overseen by the Clinical Director.
Mentors coach youth that have challenges in establishing positive friendships & who would benefit from guidance in practicing social skills in a supportive & non-threatening environment. The hands on experiences at the Papa Ganache bakery & in the community serve as a backdrop to explore group members’ challenges in making connections with friends, understanding social norms, & struggles with positive self-esteem. By the end of the group, participants will have greater social competence, have internalized the skills learned each week, & begin to globalize the skills into their daily lives outside of group. By capitalizing on the strengths of each participant, we create an individualized & rewarding group experience where youth can explore their understanding of themselves & others.
